About Us
Educational Assistants are graduates of Universities and
Community College programs such as Developmental
Disabilities Worker, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood
Education and Early Child Education for the Developmentally
Handicapped.
In May of each school year we celebrate with our Annual Dinner
celebration which has been held at the Burlington Convention Centre for
the last seven years. As life-long learners, Halton District Educational Assistants constantly upgrade their skills and knowledge through conferences, workshops and seminars. The Halton District Educational Assistants Association has partnered with the Burlington Chapter of the Autism Society, The Learning Disabilities Association of Halton, The Geneva Centre for Autism and Chedoke McMaster Hospital to enhance professional development opportunities for EA's. Currently, the HDEAA office also serves as the home base for the Coalition of Educational Assistants of Ontario. Please contact us for more details. (CEAO). We honor members retiring as well as those with 10,20 and 30 years of service. This year HDEAA will also be making a contribution to Little Travelers to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the communities of The Valley of a Thousand Hills in South Africa. This organization is aligned with The Stephen Lewis Foundation. Go to www.littletravellers.net to find our more. To commemorate our 10th Anniversary in 2005/2006 as a certified Union, HDEAA created a recipe collection of more than 350 recipes. As a result of the sales from the project HDEAA was able to present a cheque in the amount of $8,000 to Sleeping Children Around The World. This organization provided bed kits for children in third world countires. Bed kits sponsored by HDEAA were received by children in Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Honduras and Bangladesh.
