Our Work
Educational Assistants are employed to:
assist in program development, planning and
implementation
assist in the adaption and preparation of
instructional materials
facilitate independance to best of the
students' ability, for any grade from Jr.
Kindergarten through Grade 12
assist the team, discussing student's
progress and needs, respecting the need for
confidentiality
Educational Assistants support students in:
food schools, developmental education classes,
behaviour classes, treatment Centres, ESL
resource settings, self-contained classes,
work experience programs and more.
Student learning differences may be:
(but are not limited to)
deaf/hard of hearing/blind low vision, physical
challenges, developmental challenges, Attention
Deficit Disorder, Pervasive Development Disorder/Autism,
Tourettes, Fragile X, Bipolar Disorder, Down Syndrome
and Dyslexia.
In addition to instructional support:
Educational Assistants are usually the main
care givers for students requiring medical
assistance, such as the administering of
regular medication and clean catheterization.
They also assist students with approved
therapy programs.
Educational Assistants participate in
extra-cirricular activities:
coaching school sports teams, assisting with
school choirs and plays, organizing lunch
hour and after school clubs (ie: sign
language, stamp collecting, reading,
computer and chess).
